Therapeutic Class: Osmotic Laxative
Indications: Movicol Paediatric is indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation and faecal impaction in children aged 2 to 11 years, as diagnosed by a healthcare professional.
Mechanism of Action: Macrogol 3350 increases water retention in the bowel via osmotic action, which softens the stool and enhances natural bowel movement without causing discomfort.
Dosage and Administration: The dose depends on age and condition. For constipation, 1 sachet daily is common for children aged 2–6, and up to 2 sachets for older children. For faecal impaction, higher doses are used under medical supervision. Dissolve each sachet in 62.5 ml (quarter of a glass) of water.
